A Message from our Resident Beekeeper
The honey the bees produce at Lyrath is pure and simple. We allow the bees the freedom of nature to collect the pollen and nectar from our vast estate.
They will visit all the flowers from a 3 mile radius of our apiary at Lyrath Estate, collecting as they go, visiting some flowers up to 5 times each day.
Each bee, in its lifetime, will make approximately 1/4 of a teaspoon of honey, which we harvest twice a year, and gently filter.
At the peak of the season, between May and July, each beehive will contain around 70,000 bees, and most importantly, one Queen.
We add and take away nothing, allowing the taste to come naturally from what the bees are working in.
This means that the taste of the honey will vary each harvest depending on the flowers visited by the bees each year.
As a beekeeper I strive to look after the bees in the most ethical manner, and treat them and the honey with the respect they deserve.
I hope you enjoy the honey.
