Kilkenny offers a unique selection of historical sites and buildings from the 7th century onwards reflecting a tradition of monastic settlement and gracious living. Kilkenny City is recognised as the Medieval Capital of Ireland. The City is characterised by beautifully restored old buildings and winding slipways – however it is small and compact enough to explore on foot.
Kilkenny Arts Festival
The Arts Festival in Kilkenny is one of the highlights of the many events that take place in Kilkenny each Summer and has been running for over 40 years. The Festival is a celebration of the Arts in its varied forms, Theatre, Music, Art and Dance. It runs from the 7th to the 10th of August 2015. Kilkenny comes alive during this festival and it is a memorable event well worth the visit!
Cat Laughs Festival Kilkenny
The 21st Edition of the Sky Cat Laughs Festival returns to Kilkenny. For the June Bank Holiday Kilkenny City plays host to a number of International and Irish comedy Acts in a number of venues across Kilkenny City.
Kilkenny Roots Festival
The Kilkenny Roots Festival has been attracting some of the best known names in country, folk, bluegrass, cajun and rockabilly since 1998. Over the four days of the Festival all forms of what is commonly known as Americana music can be heard in a number of venues across the city.
